Michael E. Melvin

Michael E. Melvin, born in Stuttgart, Germany, and currently residing in Columbia, Maryland, is a multifaceted talent and veteran educator with a diverse and accomplished background. As a filmmaker, entrepreneur, artist, poet, writer, and public school teacher for over 22 years, Michael has dedicated his career to mastering and imparting knowledge in Audio Video Production, Digital Media, and Film. His academic credentials are extensive, holding a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Picture and Television Producing from the Academy of Art University, a Master of Science in Education Media Design and Technology from Full Sail University, a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Bowie State University, and a Liberal Arts Degree from Howard Community College.

In addition to his teaching career, Michael is the host of the weekly podcast, The Black Filmmakers Lounge, which streams live on Facebook and YouTube. This platform showcases his commitment to fostering a supportive community for African American filmmakers and creatives. His wealth of industry knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish M.E. Melvin Films, LLC, a film company through which he has produced, directed, and written several critically acclaimed short films. His portfolio includes the award-winning feature film, "Broken," which has been screened at numerous national and international film festivals.

Currently, Michael is immersed in several exciting projects, including the short film "Worth" and the feature-length version of his short film "The Fix." He has also completed the first season of the Facebook-exclusive streaming series "I Am..." and has co-written the second season, which will be adapted into a novel alongside the first season. Michael considers it a profound privilege and honor to pursue his passion for filmmaking and the arts, while also making a generational impact through his teaching and creative endeavors.
